BMW fault code 100213: throttle valve sluggish or jammed

What does 100213 mean?
The throttle valve controls the air entering the engine with an electric motor. The DME monitors how quickly it reaches the requested angle. If it lags, its spring cannot close it, or it sticks briefly, these codes are stored. For safety, the engine may limit power in this case.

| Carbon and oil deposits | Oil vapour from crankcase ventilation builds up on the throttle and makes it stiff. Cleaning often solves it. |
| Throttle motor | The electric motor or position sensor may be worn. |

| Adaptation | After cleaning or a battery disconnect, the throttle adaptation must be relearned. |

The car may drive with reduced power or delayed throttle response. If throttle response is clearly abnormal, take the car in without pushing it.
