BMW speed limiter (Vmax) removal
On B48 1.6 BMW 320i, 420i, 520i and X3, the electronic speed limiter (Vmax) is removed with MOSTUNED Flash. Which package, price and how.
What the speed limiter is and where it lives
On BMWs, top speed is set by an electronic limit in the engine control unit (ECU). It is changed with engine software, not coding. In MOSTUNED Flash, Vmax is a separate option: you switch it on in the app and the calibration is written with that setting.
The Vmax option is not sold separately; it is included with Flasher and every power package. You can switch it off and reflash, or return to stock, at any time.
How it differs from the 261 km/h cluster limit
Two different things are often confused. The engine-software limiter restricts the speed the car can actually reach. The digital cluster not showing above 261 km/h is only a display limit, changed with cluster coding. Doing one does not change the other.
Performance settings are intended for closed-circuit use. Obeying legal speed limits on the road is the driver’s responsibility; also take your tyres’ speed rating and the car’s condition into account.

Frequently asked questions
Can the speed limiter be removed by coding?
No. The limiter is part of the engine software; removing it requires flashing the calibration. Coding only changes the cluster’s display limit.
Do I need a power package just for Vmax?
No. The Vmax option is included with Flasher (€350); if you do not want more power, Flasher is enough. Flasher is for writing your own compatible file or one prepared by your tuner.
Can I undo it later?
Yes. Switch the option off in the app and reflash; because the original software is backed up, returning to stock is always possible.
